Unite & Fight US Imperialism!
Demonstrations on Friday 17th April
in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town
Colombian President Petro Gustavo warned over two years ago that “What we see in Gaza is the rehearsal of the future”. That future has arrived with the bombing of civilians, residences, schools, universities and health centers in Iran and Lebanon, the tightening of the blockade of Cuba, the theft of the oil of Venezuela and the kidnapping of Nicolas Maduro and Cilia Flores.
Cuba and the people of West Asia (including Occupied Palestine, Lebanon, Iran) today stand on the frontline against colonialism, imperialism, fossil/racial capitalism and white supremacy. The US/Israeli aggression against Iran is already a regional war, and it is hastening a global economic crash including unaffordable fuel and food prices. Worse, we are closer to both constant climate catastrophe and a nuclear holocaust.
Coming after more than two years of genocide in Gaza, this new war underlines that we are at a decisive moment in anti-colonial struggle, characterised by an upsurge in colonial imperialist violence and the total collapse of the liberal façade of international law and human rights. The empire and its billionaires are willing to sacrifice millions of black, brown and working-class people so that they can accumulate capital and maintain domination. Our only option is strengthening the resistance globally.
We can see clearly that this system of capitalism, of the billionaires’ greed is linked. The same crude oil extracted from the Niger Delta, the minerals of the Congo and coal from South Africa fuels the machinery of the US Empire and the Zionist génocidaires, linking the dispossession of Palestinian lives and land to the exploitation of African resources by big corporations and African elites. Millions of people in the DRC have been murdered and Sudan has been devastated by these networks of war mongers, financed and armed by global elites including the despots in the Gulf such as the UAE. The US/EU/Israeli death machine, working with others such as the unelected Gulf monarchies and authoritarian African regimes – such as in Kenya, Uganda and Swaziland - use the armaments and AI surveillance technologies, tested on the bodies of Palestinians against their own citizens.
The US, Israel and their local puppets are also working overtime to divide South Africans. We will not appease them, and we will not be bullied. Instead, we embrace our revolutionary internationalist heritage and our martyred ancestors. The logic and violence of racial capitalism, colonialism and extraction are not confined to one place or time. They operate across borders, binding Africa, Palestine, and other sites of struggle into a shared history of resistance.
Like the majority of humanity, we reject a system that dehumanises people, that enshrines super-exploitation, that generates massive inequality and untold poverty, that reproduces endless war and militarisation, and that causes ecological destruction and climate chaos.
Phansi imperialism! Support the resistance!
